My mother always kept an open Bible on the table next to her rocking chair. She would read the
Bible before she would say her morning or evening prayers. My mother’s Bible was always filled
with notes and little reminders in a code that was only understood by her. Later I learned that
she completely wore three Bibles binding and pages thin from handling and reading each day.
She never lectured about the importance of reading or studying the Bible. The message of the
importance of being and study was learned by observing the priority given to the BIBLE in her
life.
The ways of living, relating, salvation or stories of restoration are described and prescribe in the
Bible. The Bible is foundational in seeking, examining, and evaluating daily living. The Bible is
the final authority in matters of faith and practice. Therefore Bible study is necessary to become
competent and careful interpreters of the Bibles to live a Christian life. Through prayerful study
and interpretation of scripture we learn about God’s relationship with all creation past, present

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving
instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may, be fully qualified and equipped to do every
