Spiritual Toolbox The Church
|
While waiting for a flight a young woman named Beth asked, “Are you really a woman priest?
Do you really believe that church stuff? Beth overheard a conversation I was having with
another person. I responded, “I am a Christian spiritual leader called a pastor. YES, I really
believe belonging to a community of Christian believers has offered me a better life. People
are curious about the church and if belonging to a faith community offers any benefits. We
must always be prepared to share the faith and our understanding of what it means to be a
Christian believer.
A church in the spiritual sense is a group of people who gather and scatter and gather again.
The church is people seeking to practice a common faith with a common purpose. The people
that make up the church have a mutually recognized need to invite others into the faith
community. John Wesley insisted that a real Christian "will either find other Christians to
gather with or he will make other Christians by sharing his faith."
Do you have stories of sharing your faith with others? Do you struggle with the entire idea of
"faith sharing?" Call, write or e-mail me with your stories.
Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Monica
