The Gift of Giving Your Treasure
Faith and Money
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyon who believe in Him
may not perish but may have eternal life.  Indeed god did not send the Son into the world to
condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him."  John 3:16 NRSV

A five year study by the Neuroscience Research Group found than, "...people
spend more than one-half of their lives beginning at about the age of twelve
thinking about money so that they could "give or help others.  Neuroeconomics is
used to convert our thoughts about money and giving into bottom-line profits.
Since so much of our time and talents are spent preparing to earn, spend,
invest, save and think about money, it is important that the Christian believer
understand some biblical and theological understanding about "faith and
money."  Science and research have documented what the Bible tells, "people
yearn to earn and give."

Stewardship giving, and "extravagant generosity" are foundational to our spiritual
maturity.  Stewardship is the understanding that everything belongs to God and
we manage or share out of God's provision.  When individuals join a United
Methodist Church, they promise to support with prayers, presence, gifts, and
service to be used for inviting people into a relationship with god as followers
Jesus Christ.  The Bible and St. Andrew offer the standard of the tithe as the
goal for which to strive as an individual and for congregational giving.  We
believe and share a personal relationship with a "giving God" who "gave" the
very best so that we might live life more abundantly.  I invite you to claim your
God-given treasure as a "giver."  Start by making a prayerful  commitment to
give in proportion to where you are financially; then move step by step toward
the "tithe" or ten percent.  You may donate to the ministries of St. Andrew at

PRAISE!

Blessings and Peace,
