The 24/7 Lifestyle
(Twenty-four Hours Seven Days A Week)
I entered the word “time” into several of the online search engines and free online
encyclopedias. I compared the definitions to my 15-year-old printed encyclopedia and
dictionary.  You guess it both the old and new reference materials define time the same way.
Time is  “events that occur in sequence that can be measured” or  “a part of a mental
measuring system, an intellectual structure, not an objective thing that is measured.

We live in a culture where we ask and receive an almost constant stimulation of sights, sounds,
touch, taste, and smell.  We want “whatever”  “now” and “constantly.”  When we are not being
stimulated in some way the word “bored” creeps into our vocabulary.   The result of this
constant stimulation is the twenty-four hours a day seven days of week   (24 – 7) way of life
that requires increased stimulation to maintain.

Ephesians 4:15 tells us that we need to “be careful” with our time.   Intentional wise use of time
is a spiritual discipline that requires our attention. Scripture contrast between wise and foolish
concepts of mental or measured time.   Wise use of time nourishes and allows replenishment
of our body, mind, and spirit. It is  “time to connect” and energize or re-energize your spiritual
life. This month I am asking you take 5 – 15 minutes each day pray, take some deep breaths,
and think about your time commitments.   Next think about what you must stop doing to break
the 24 – 7 cycle and live a balanced life.

Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Monica
